ANZSIC codes are used in the Company Overview report and the Find Company screening within the GBB-Asia Pacific Products.
The Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC) has been developed for use in both countries for the production and analysis of industry statistics. It replaces the Australian Standard Industrial Classification (ASIC) and the New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (NZSIC) which were used for many years. Currently, the Australian Bureau of Statistics and Statistics New Zealand are revising ANZSIC system. The revised system will be based on the supply-side concept so that there is a consistent approach to industry classification. To the extent feasible, economic units that engage in similar production processes will be classified to the same industry. The Australian Bureau of Statistics and Statistics New Zealand will be basing the revision on the North American Industrial Classification System 2002 (NAICS) which is based on the supply-side concept and is the most contemporary industry classification. The revised ANZSIC system is expected to be released in 2006.
